Senior/ Assistant Director (Surveillance Programmes)

What the role is

You will be part of a team supporting the design, implementation, and evaluation of communicable disease surveillance programmes. The position contributes to Singapore’s ability to detect, prepare for, and respond to emerging communicable disease threats.

You will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that will require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.

What you will be working on

  • Drive the development, implementation and monitoring of the National Surveillance Strategy including establishing appropriate governance, coordination and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms where appropriate.
  • Engage extensively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate capture of surveillance data, smooth implementation of surveillance systems, timely resolution of operational issues, regular review of processes, and efficient dissemination of relevant information to support public health interventions and risk communications.
  • Oversee budgets and monitoring and reporting of KPIs for disease-agnostic surveillance systems and programmes.
  • Develop and maintain data collection tools and processes, including the exploration of innovative tools and strategies for efficient and integrated data collection and management
  • Preparing reports, summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

What we are looking for

  • A recognised qualification preferably a Master or Doctoral degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in public health, epidemiology, or data analysis (experience with surveillance programmes is an advantage), with at least 2 years in a leadership position
  • Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
