The job of an academic is challenging and meaningful. Not only will he/she have both the knowledge and working experience, he/she must also possess a passion for working with youths, nurturing them and moulding their characters. There will be opportunities to develop the curriculum, introduce and develop new courses and modules (PET and CET), support student-related initiatives, be involved in consultancy, pedagogical projects and/or initiatives and other applied research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and School/Institutional strategic initiatives will be an important part of the job too.

The appointee must be competent to teach psychology and/or soft skills modules, particularly in at least 2 of the following areas:
• Introduction to Psychology
• Fundamentals in Psychology (PFP)
• Positive Psychology
• Fundamentals in Peer Support
• Emotional Intelligence
• Business Negotiation
• Business Essentials Through Action

What you will be working on

Responsibilities:

·       Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials, and facilitate learning for both Pre-Employment Training (PET) and Continuing Education and Training (CET) students.

·       Keep abreast of current developments and trends in the areas of employee wellness and/or soft skills to develop and maintain relevant and up-to-date teaching curriculum. This includes review of existing curriculum with a view to making recommendations on areas of improvements that would enhance students’ performance, learning & employability.  

·       Enhance students’ learning through other activities such as advising student club activities, training students for competitions, supervising projects and internships, and leading them on overseas learning programme/community service.

·       Collaborate with other staff as well as the industry to offer meaningful mental wellness projects.

·       Support SkillsFuture initiatives in the implementation of Enhanced Internship Programmes, Work Study Programme and CET programmes.

What we are looking for

Requirements:

·       4 - 8 years of relevant working experience with proven track records in psychology-related roles and soft skills. Experience in youth, community and/or student development work will be an advantage.

·       Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology or Counselling.

·       Proven ability to engage the industry in psychology-related topics, mental health and soft skills.

·       A strong team player with good communication skills.

·       Resourceful and innovative.

·       Relevant qualifications and/or certification in Education will be an advantage.

 

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
