What the role is

This is a 2-year contract position as a Lecturer, Engineering Science in the School of Engineering.

The role of a lecturer includes (1) Teaching & developing of modules including skills-based modules (2) Conducting training/courses for adult learners (3) Working on technology projects.

What you will be working on

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Involvement in developing curriculum, facilitating student learning, conducting assessment and performing tasks for modules related to Diploma in Engineering Science, Common Engineering Programme and Diploma Plus Programme. Modules include but are not limited to:

    • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

    • Computer Vision and Deep Learning

    • Autonomous Systems and IOT

    • Data Analytics and Cloud Networks

    • Data Security & Blockchain

    • Generative AI

    • Probability and Statistics

    • Engineering Mathematics and Applied Physics

  • Spearhead and identify new opportunities and collaboration with industry

  • Work on industry or consultancy projects to stay relevant in your profession

  • Lead or support applied R&D projects in collaboration with industry partners, focusing on Embodied AI, AI & Machine Learning and autonomous systems with applications spanning across robotics, advanced manufacturing, energy and transport.

  • Support student development in the area of education

  • Develop and delivery industry training programmes.

What we are looking for

  • Relevant qualifications in Engineering (e.g. Electronics,  Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.)  with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience in product design/development/manufacturing or research and development

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in emerging technological sectors such as embodied AI & Robotics, Machine Learning & Deep Learning or Data Analytics

  • Passionate about education and possess strong interest in nurturing, teaching, mentoring and interacting with students

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Self-driven, independent and possess readiness to work as a team
