Youth Action in Singapore is evolving rapidly. Young people are stepping up — launching ground-up projects, tackling community issues, and seeking platforms to make their voices count. The Partnership Lab makes that journey possible: connecting youths with opportunities, mentors, funding, and partners across the public, people, and private sectors.

National Youth Council
Assistant Director (Partnership Lab – Youth Action)
Contract
Closing on 27 May 2026What the role is
What you will be working on
We are looking for a capable individual who is keen to join the Partnership Lab team in our efforts to support NYC's growth in our role as the national agency for youths.
As Assistant Director (Youth Action), you will:
• Lead and develop the team responsible for NYC's flagship youth action platforms — including Young ChangeMakers (YCM) and the Youth Action Challenge (YAC), providing clear direction, supporting professional development, and fostering a high-performing and mission-driven team culture.
• Shape and scale our flagship youth action platforms, leading the design, development and implementation of youth action opportunities, while stewarding relationships with key programme stakeholders, such as the YCM Curators Community, ground-up communities, and other changemakers networks.
• Build and grow a cross-sector partnership ecosystem, forging and managing strategic partnerships with organisations across the public, people, private, and philanthropic (4P) sectors to open new action pathways, mentorship opportunities, and funding channels for youths.
• Oversee youth action grants and governance, including end-to-end administration, award processes, disbursements, audit requirements, and governance reviews — balancing rigour with a user-centric approach that keeps the youth experience at the centre.
• Drive engagement and re-engagement of youths who are new to youth action, as well as re-engage youth communities, using data and insights to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities in the youth action ecosystem, informing programme decisions and partnership priorities.
What we are looking for
• Relevant working experience of at least 7 years, with a strong track record in youth development, community engagement, or the social/people sector.
• Demonstrated experience in business development and partnership management, including brokering multi-stakeholder collaborations across sectors.
• Prior supervisory or people management experience; ability to lead and develop a team.
• Strategic thinker with an ecosystem mindset — able to identify where relationships, resources, and opportunities intersect, and to build platforms and structures that bring them together.
• Strong relational skills, particularly in building trust with diverse stakeholders: youths and ground-up communities, institutional leaders, government agencies, and corporate or philanthropic partners.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and at the frontier of emerging priorities; willing to test, learn, and adapt.
• Familiarity with grant governance and accountability frameworks, with the ability to balance compliance requirements with human-centred design principles.
• Appreciation of data as a tool for engagement and decision-making — interest in using youth insights, re-engagement data, and participation trends to improve programme design.
