What the role is

You will support the Assistant Director (OneNS Product Management) in executing the NS Business Architecture through business process re-engineering, user experience (UX) research, and capability mapping. You work within a multi-stakeholder MINDEF/SAF and DSTA landscape and translate strategic business architecture vision into operational outcomes by facilitating cross-departmental collaboration and applying proven methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma, Design Thinking, or The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF).

What you will be working on

- Support business process re-engineering initiatives across diverse NS business processes, including Operations, Training, NS Policy, HR, and IT, to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency - Establish and maintain as-is baseline process documentation, define to-be target process designs grounded in business drivers, and conduct gap analysis to define the re-engineering roadmap - Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent process improvement techniques to diagnose inefficiencies and design future-state processes that are simpler, faster, and better aligned to strategic objectives - Facilitate co-design workshops with operations and business unit stakeholders to ensure target process designs are operationally grounded and have the buy-in needed for successful adoption - Translate re-engineered processes into product and system requirements for Product Leads - Oversee UX research and usability testing to understand population group profiles and behavioural patterns, informing decision-making and ensuring alignment of solutions with established objectives - Map user journeys for key touchpoints across core population groups to identify pain points and determine aspects of the current user journey that should be retained, modified, or redesigned - Lead change management efforts emerging from business process re-engineering workstreams, ensuring successful adoption of new processes, systems, and operating models across diverse stakeholder groups - Develop change management strategies that address cultural, organisational, and technical barriers to digital transformation, tailoring approaches to different user populations and organisational contexts

What we are looking for

- Education in Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Public Policy, or a related field - Experience in digital strategy, enterprise IT, IT governance, or business transformation roles is advantageous - Experience in a large, complex organisation or public sector environment is advantageous - Familiarity with enterprise architecture or SaaS/cloud delivery models is a plus - Familiarity with business process mapping, business capability modelling, and value stream mapping - BPR experience, from baseline diagnosis and gap analysis through to target design, transition architecture, and outcome measurement - Familiarity with UX research methodologies and design thinking principles - Proficiency in organisational change management frameworks and stakeholder engagement strategies - Strategic thinker with strong analytical and systems thinking capabilities - Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments with competing priorities - Diplomatic approach with strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills - Strong communicator with ability to influence senior stakeholders - Collaborative leadership style with ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups The traineeship will be for a period of 6 months. Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024, 2025 or 2026 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024, 2025 or 2026.
  • Applicants must have no prior working experience and must be prepared to commit to a full-time traineeship.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2026 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2027 are eligible for the programme as well.
