What the role is

We are seeking a hands-on and proactive individual to oversee the daily operations of the MakerSpace. The role involves maintaining and troubleshooting maker equipment, facilitating workshops, and supporting students in their innovation and prototyping projects.
The ideal candidate will manage MakerSpace facilities, ensure safe usage, and handle inventory and booking systems, while actively engaging the community through workshops such as 3D printing and prototyping. This role requires strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a passion for mentoring students and fostering innovation.
Candidates should have experience working with maker tools (e.g., 3D printers, laser cutters, electronics), be confident in conducting workshops, and possess good communication skills. Prior experience in a makerspace or workshop environment will be an added advantage.

What you will be working on

  • Manage daily operations of the MakerSpace (MSP).
  • Maintain, service, and troubleshoot MakerSpace equipment and tools.
  • Plan and run workshops for students and staff (e.g. 3D printing, laser cutting, prototyping).
  • Provide hands-on guidance to students working on projects.
  • Ensure safe use of MakerSpace facilities and compliance with guidelines.
  • Manage inventory, bookings, and usage records of MakerSpace.
  • Any ad-hoc tasks to support MakerSpace Operations and Programmes

What we are looking for

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with maker tools/equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, electronics, etc.).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to conduct workshops.
  • Passion for innovation and mentoring students.
  • Prior makerspace/workshop experience preferred.
