What the role is

Intern will assist and conduct both general Life Sciences workshops as well as specialised workshops under the Amgen Biotech Experience programme. They will also assist in lab work including preparation of workshop materials and lab setup, as well as other departmental admin and operational needs. Intern will also have the opportunity to assist educators with lesson development.

What you will be working on

Week 1: • Orientation • Sit-in classes • Explore the galleries, Science Centre website Week 2: • Sit-in classes • Do basic experiments • Learn to set-up/clear-up classes Week 3: • Sit-in classes • Prepare basic materials for workshops independently • Set-up and clear-up classes Week 4: • Conduct a mock class with the Science Educators • Co-conduct classes with the Science Educators Week 5 onwards: • Conduct classes on his/her own after being certified • Prepare more complicated reagents and lesson materials • Lab inventory

What we are looking for

• Course of study: Biological Sciences or Life Sciences • Preferred specialisation in biomedical science or biotechnology • Competent and independent in molecular biotechnology and microbiology lab techniques • Interested to learn and hone Science Communication skills • Prior experience in conducting workshops or tutoring will be preferred • Prior lab experience (eg. FYP, research projects) will be preferred Only shortlisted applicants will be notified.
