What the role is

Intern/s will be attached to Gallery Experiences as Science Educator. They will learn and be exposed to various methods of science communication. Science communication includes: 1. Science communication (activity and exhibit facilitation) 2. Customer service 3. Project development & management 4. Event management

What you will be working on

Week 1: • Orientation to the Centre and Department function • Orientation of various galleries/exhibitions • Familiarization of the Centre’s public programmes • Familiarization of daily duties • Getting to know colleagues Week 2-4: • Interact with guests through exhibit explanations • Learn, practice and facilitate activities at various galleries such as Tinkering Studio, Some Call It Science, Future Makers and Dialogue with Time (DwT). Ongoing: • To assist in operation matters of Gallery Experiences • Work closely with gallery staff and exhibition guides (DwT) • Assist in shows (Fire Show, Tesla Show and Science Shows) and facilitate gallery activities • Assist with ongoing events • To work closely with staff to develop, curate and facilitate events. - Eg : DiscovHER, June holiday programmes, Sci-Sational Christmas Week 5-8: • Refining operational process • To share proposal of project curation by week 7 • Assist for shows and gallery activities • To propose and work with mentor on a project relevant to their studies (STEM/Event) • Conduct and tabulate surveys (if any) • Assist with administrative matters Week 9-24: • To assist in operation matters of Gallery Exhibitions and programmes • Work closely with Gallery Science Educators and exhibition guides • Assist for shows and facilitate gallery activities • To complete approved project work, share and improve it. • Share feedback and propose improvements or suggestions for the Centre • Review surveys – changing the survey objective, depending on the current needs (if any) • Propose improvements or implementing systematic facilitation at the different areas

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in science and a genuine passion for science communication—especially in ways that spark curiosity and inspire guests of all ages. We’re looking for a dynamic and creative individual who thrives on novelty and the unusual, and who is eager to help design and deliver unique, hands-on experiences that bring science to life. The role involves storytelling, activity creation, interactive play making, and developing engaging, educational content for exhibits, hands-on activities and/or live demonstrations. Most importantly, he/she will be someone who enjoys interacting with people, can express his/her individuality with confidence, and brings excellent customer service and communication skills to every guest interaction.
