Singapore's National AI Strategy 2.0 sets the direction for how AI will be developed and adopted across the economy and public sector. Realising this depends on a vibrant, well-connected AI community in Singapore — one where researchers, startups, large companies, government agencies, and overseas talent encounter each other often enough to find common purpose and act on it.
Reporting to the Chief AI Officer, the Director (Ecosystem Integration) sits within MDDI's National AI Group (NAIG) and is the steward of that community. The role brokers connections across government, industry, and research so that shared use cases, research goals, and missions surface and translate into joint work — and anchors and grows Singapore's AI community-building hubs, Lorong AI today and Kampong AI as it comes online, as the places where those connections form.

Ministry of Digital Development and Information
Director (Ecosystem Integration), National AI Group
Permanent/Contract
Closing on 03 Jun 2026What the role is
What you will be working on
Broker Connections Across the AI Ecosystem
• Surface common purpose across government, industry, and research — shared use cases, joint research goals, and missions where multiple actors stand to benefit from working together — and convene the right parties around them.
• Connect AI talent with industry opportunities, research groups with applied problems, and overseas talent with projects underway in Singapore.
Steward Lorong AI as the Spiritual Home of Singapore's AI Community
• Lead the programming of Lorong AI — talks, founder dinners, technical meetups, hackathons, AI Wednesdays, and other formats — so that there is always a reason for the community to gather and a steady cadence of substantive content.
• Curate and grow the Lorong AI membership, attracting researchers, founders, engineers, investors, and policymakers whose presence raises the quality of the community.
• Drive co-location around Lorong AI — actively engaging AI startups, research groups, and AI-adjacent firms to locate their offices, labs, or working presence in the surrounding cluster, so that the community thickens physically and not just through events.
Programme Kampong AI
• Shape Kampong AI's programming concept as it comes online — the mix of tenants, the design of shared spaces, the rhythm of activities, and the institutional anchors — so that it functions as a community from day one.
• Translate the lessons from Lorong AI into a programming model that scales to Kampong AI while preserving its character.
Engage the Ecosystem
• Sustain a wide and active set of relationships across founders, researchers, engineers, and corporate AI leads in Singapore and the region.
• Represent NAIG in community-facing forums and act as an important point of contact for ecosystem actors seeking to plug into Singapore's AI agenda.
You might be interested in this role if:
• You believe communities are built deliberately — through programming, membership curation, and physical proximity.
• You enjoy finding the latent overlap between people working on adjacent problems and getting them into a room.
• You want to play a hands-on role in building the institutional fabric of Singapore's AI community at a formative moment.
What we are looking for
• Background in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, Public Policy, Business, or related discipline)
• At least 8–10 years of experience in technology, community building, ecosystem development, or related roles, with a track record of running substantive programming and convening across diverse groups.
• Strong understanding of AI technologies and the ecosystem dynamics that shape how AI communities form and grow.
• Demonstrated ability to broker connections and build trust across founders, researchers, and government counterparts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate competing priorities and hold a long-term view on community building.
• Familiarity with Singapore's digital and innovation ecosystem is preferred.
