What the role is

At MCCY's Community Relations and Engagement Division, the Community Strategies and Insights (CSI) team plays a pivotal role in Singapore's efforts to strengthen social cohesion. We bring together our multi-racial, multi-religious communities, fostering bonds that help realise Singapore's vision of a cohesive and harmonious nation. The Community Insights unit in CSI builds and maintains strong relationships across community organisations and strengthens MCCY’s understanding of intra-community dynamics. In this role, you will work closely with the Singapore Indian community ecosystem as part of MCCY's broader efforts to build a stronger, more cohesive Singapore. You will build and sustain meaningful connections with a wide range of organisations within the ecosystem — from religious institutions and cultural groups to youth networks, businesses, and leaders of diverse sub-communities. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds who are passionate about community development and social cohesion.

What you will be working on

You will: • Develop a comprehensive stakeholder map and design strategies to meaningfully engage, listen to, and understand the diverse range of stakeholders within it. Through sustained relationship-building, you will foster the trust needed to enable more responsive, coordinated, and inclusive policy interventions. • Work closely with internal and community partners to develop and review community initiatives and events such as programmes under the Indian Engagement and Development Initiative (INEI) and the organisation of major cultural and religious festivals. You may also serve as MCCY's primary interface with the Hindu Advisory Board, Hindu Endowments Board and Sikh Advisory Board, supporting these agencies in fulfilling their roles effectively on community matters. • Support the senior leadership in driving these initiatives. This involves facilitating community dialogues and conversations and providing coordination support for the INEI Coordinating Committee and other platforms.

What we are looking for

Work Experience: • Experience in public engagement, community partnerships, or international relations would be advantageous • Track record of building and sustaining relationships in complex, multi-stakeholder environments Competency Requirements: • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work across different social and cultural contexts • Critical thinking and clear written communication • Ability to synthesise ground-level insights into coherent recommendations • Effective stakeholder management across diverse groups Personality Traits: • Keen interest in public policy • Motivated by the belief that meaningful engagement leads to better outcomes for communities and the people within them • A strong listener who builds trust and rapport with ease across diverse groups of stakeholders • Self-driven and adaptable, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment
