What the role is

The Central Regional Office (CRO) is the operational arm of the Environmental Public Health Group, overseeing a diverse range of environmental public health functions, including vector control, sanitation, and public feedback management for the central regions of Singapore.

As an Executive in the Sanitation Section with CRO, you will play an active role in implementing, engaging, and enforcing key environmental public health programmes to ensure high standards of public health in Singapore.

What you will be working on

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Ensure good cleanliness and sanitation standards at various premises, public places, and outdoor events within the assigned sector
  • Enable a smoke-free environment at smoking prohibited areas in premises and public places
  • Conduct routine inspections and undertaking necessary actions on public health concerns (e.g. cleanliness, littering and smoking in prohibited areas, etc)
  • Attend, investigate and resolve feedback from members of public and stakeholders on public health matters
  • Work closely with internal teams, relevant NEA divisions/departments, and government agencies and stakeholders to investigate and resolve public health issues
  • Plan and manage all matters relating to public health
  • Educate the public on good environmental practices and facilitate compliance with regulations
  • Conduct enforcement against offences that contravene the Environmental Public Health Act (EPHA), Smoking (Prohibition in Certain Places) Act (SPCPA), and their subsidiary legislations
  • Write and submit reports on public health issues to management

What we are looking for

The job might be for you if you possess the following qualities:

  • Keen interest in environmental public health matters
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant working experience
  • Able to communicate in a friendly and composed manner with the public
  • Good team player who interacts effectively with others and possesses problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Outgoing and pleasant personality, independent, and resourceful
  • Self-driven, meticulous and always ready to strive for improvement
  • Keen to take initiatives and carry out plans
  • Able to perform enforcement duties indoors and outdoors, and work on weekends and after office hours
  • Analytical, organised and able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment managing multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time
