What the role is

You are the competent authority for all survey and mapping matters. You will be responsible for managing mapping competencies, capability development, and human resources to ensure mission-ready survey and mapping operations.

What you will be working on

- Direct data collection activities and ensure the security and quality of all data sources - Direct survey operations, oversee training programmes, and approve the final qualifying of field surveyors - Oversee the production of high-quality mapping products, serving as the final line of quality assurance for all survey data and mapping outputs - Liaise with project managers across the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to support mapping-related projects - Oversee the unit training system to develop mapping competency, including the management of training infrastructure - Develop, operationalise, and integrate new mapping capabilities into SAF operations - Establish and maintain relationships with foreign mapping agencies Challenge(s) - Developing a thorough understanding of mapping requirements across the different phases of SAF missions and campaigns - Staying current with wider commercial and public sector mapping practices, technologies, and initiatives to benchmark SAF processes and operationalise new capabilities

What we are looking for

- Education in Geography, Mathematics, Cartography, Civil Engineering, or a related field - At least 15 years of relevant experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), photogrammetry, survey, lithography, and cartographic fields is required - Possess technical grounding in survey and mapping operations - Strong analytical skills to assess the operational landscape and SAF requirements, and to provide sound recommendations - Ability to remain calm and composed when managing high volumes of work, particularly during extended and intensive operations - Ability to think on one's feet and devise effective solutions under pressure to ensure mission success Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
