What the role is

In the Vector Control Policy Department (VCPD), you will be part of a team that identifies, pilots, and integrates technologies, including AI and data-driven solutions, to enhance operational capabilities in the public health pillar, which includes vector control, enforcement, and public cleanliness.
You will liaise with internal stakeholders, and work with institutions of higher learning, and external vendors to design, develop, and manage technology initiatives and trials. The role will involve looking beyond conventional use cases and exploring how existing or emerging technologies can be adapted for public health operations. This includes translating operational challenges and/or requirements into practical technology trials, and working with internal stakeholders, institutes of higher learning and external vendors to test, refine and implement solutions.

What you will be working on

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Identifying operational challenges in vector control, enforcement, and public cleanliness that could be solved through technology or process improvements
  • Researching and evaluating relevant technologies and AI solutions that could be adapted for public health operations
  • Translating operational needs into clear problem statements and trial plans
  • Planning and implementing technology trials, including sourcing for funding, procurement and coordinating with partners and stakeholders
  • Working with operational teams to test solutions on the ground and gather feedback
  • Documenting lessons learnt from trials to build institutional knowledge
  • Analysing data from trials and operations to generate useful insights
  • Providing support for technology-related enquiries and troubleshooting
  • Tracking and managing project progress to ensure milestones and deliverables are met
  • Taking on any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate would possess the following qualities:

  • Experience in project management, technology trials, data analytics or prototyping is an advantage
  • Tech-savvy with a keen interest in emerging technologies, AI, and data-driven solutions, and passionate about applying them to solve real-world problems
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and able to extract meaningful insights from large datasets
  • Proficient in productivity and presentation tools
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and vendor management is an advantage
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A strong team player with good interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and proactive — able to work independently and drive projects forward
  • Well-organised, able to multitask, and meticulous with an eye for detail
